Sun style Tai Chi, the style on which Tai Chi for Arthritis is based was developed for health and well being. It's slow, flowing movements work to gently improve physical fitness, but also to allign mind, body and nature.  It's a form of moving meditation.

The problem with traditional Tai Chi forms is that they are long, complex and take a very long time to learn. Many people drop out along the way.
 Tai Chi for arhtritis is a very short and simple form. It can be learned in a few days or weeks, leaving you free to practice, relax and perfect your own technique - a fantastic way to wind down, chill out and recharge your batteries.

Once you've got that far you may find that it's all you need, or you may wish to go on to some of the complex forms, the choice is yours.

The very small, deep muscles around the spine cannot be consciously exercised. A study with the American olympic rowing team identified that Qi Gong exercises (part of the warm up to Tai Chi) were found to effectively exercise those deep muscles and reduce back injury.
